FINANCE MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:
The Finance Manager will be accountable for the day-to-day operations and oversight of the Finance Department. Reporting to the Finance Director, this role is tasked with ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, managing accounting functions, and supervising finance staff. Additionally, the Finance Manager contributes to the development of the annual budget, the comprehensive annual financial report, debt management, revenue programs, treasury management, payroll administration, and cash control. This position is vital and serves as a subject matter expert in accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, payroll, and compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

South Correctional Entity (SCORE) is a regionally operated jail in Des Moines, WA serving the confinement needs of 6 owner cities and a number of contract agencies with a total capacity of 802 inmates. The Finance Department is responsible for an annual budget of more than $30 million. Finance has five team members and is led by the Finance Director. Because of the small team, communication and collaboration is vital in this role.

PAY & BENEFITS:
Salary Range: $111,500-$135,500 (Pending Evaluation)

Schedule: This is an exempt position. SCORE offers flexible work schedules within the Monday to Friday work week.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, public or business administration, finance or related field.
Five years of progressively responsible experience in budgeting, accounting, payroll oversight or finance, with a minimum of one-year supervisory experience required.
Due to the security requirements of a jail, a stringent background investigation is conducted on all candidates considered for hire. This includes fingerprinting, criminal history, a polygraph exam, and a medical exam including a drug-screen.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
CPA and/or master's degree
Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certified Public Finance Officer
Some accounting, budgeting, payroll, and finance experience in the public sector
